Hikmet Abdella

Hikmet Abdella is a consultant. She previously was serving as the Director General of the Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia (AABE). Prior to that she was heading a company in the private sector. She is also widely known as the first Country Head for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), where she successfully established the national office.

She is currently serves as a board member for the Ethiopian Red Cross, Capital Market Authority,  and independent Ethiopia based non-profit think tank the Center for Dialogue, Research and Cooperation (CDRC). Ms Abdella also chairs the working group for the ESG Code for Ethiopia alongside the International Finance Corporation (IFC). She has recently been appointed as Chair of the Advisory Council to establish the Institute of Directors of Ethiopia under Addis Ababa's Chamber of Commerce and Sectorial Association.

Ms Abdella is a playing a pivotal role in the reform of the accountancy profession in Ethiopia, with a vision of setting up the Ethiopian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
