Government Commissioner for Gender Equality Policy, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine

Kateryna Levchenko, Doctor of Jurisprudence and Philosophy, is the Government Commissioner for Gender Equality Policy of Ukraine(since 2018), co-founder and first President of NGO "La Strada-Ukraine" (1997-2018).

Kateryna Levchenko is known as a teacher, trainer, researcher, writer, university lecturer, expert and civil society activist. She has served as an elected Member of Parliament, advised ministers and served on the Presidential Commission on Pardons.

Kateryna Levchenko successfully advocated for Ukraine's joining of global documents and initiatives, inter alia: Council of Europe Conventions (On Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, On the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, On preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence); the Biarritz Partnership for Gender Equality; Equal Payment International Coalition (EPIC); the Generation Equality Forum Action Coalitions.

Kateryna Levchenko has extensive and diverse expertise in engaging with domestic and international non-governmental organizations within women’s, feminist and child rights movements.

A skilled communicator in word and on paper, Dr. Kateryna Levchenko has written more than 20 books and published over 300 articles on gender equality, women rights, combating GBV and trafficking in human beings.
