Thomas Ritzer

Thomas Ritzer is the Senior Advisor for Climate and Peace at the Berghof Foundation. He leads efforts to integrate climate considerations across Berghof's conflict transformation and peacebuilding work, including dialogue and mediation initiatives at national and regional levels. Before joining the Berghof Foundation, Mr Ritzer worked in the Policy and Mediation Division of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, where he set up the team on climate, peace and security and co-led the interagency Climate Security Mechanism. He previously worked on the protection of civilians in the UN Department of Peace Operations and served in the UN Mission in South Sudan. Prior to the United Nations, he also worked as an international election observer, at the Foreign Ministry of Austria, and as a Fellow at Columbia University.
