Esther Njomo Omam, 2023 Global Pluralism award winner is a multiple-award winner in diverse categories and one of Cameroon’s leading women peacebuilders/mediator, humanitarian, women’s rights advocates and social worker. For over 26 years, Omam has represented and been the voice of grassroots women and youths suffering diverse human rights abuse, marginalization, and disempowerment. She was the first woman to testify at the UN Security Council on the humanitarian crisis in Cameroon in 2019 giving visibility to one of the most neglected crises in the world at the time. Omam has transformed women from passive victims of conflicts to active voices in the peacebuilding process in Cameroon and pioneered the humanitarian response in the anglophone regions.
