Monica McWilliams

Professor Monica McWilliams is a negotiator and signatory of the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland. She is a former Member of the Northern Ireland Legislative Assembly and the Chief Commissioner of Human Rights Commission responsible for drafting advice on a Bill of Rights. She is currently Commissioner on the Independent Reporting Commission for the disbandment of paramilitary organisations. Prof McWilliams is an Emeritus Professor at the Transitional Justice Institute Ulster University and Member of the Royal Irish Academy. She has also received the John F Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award, as well as honorary doctorates for her work on domestic violence.
