High Signatory of the Colombian 2016 Agreement, President of Comunes Party

Rodrigo Londoño Echeverri joined the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) in 1976 as a soldier. In 1982 he became a member of the Central Staff of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and of the Assistant of the FARC Secretariat. He was Chairman of the National School of Commands in 1984. In 1986 he became a member of the Secretariat and a year later took charge of the organisation of the Eastern Bloc, one of the seven military factions of the guerrilla group. In 1993 he became the Coordinator of the Middle Magdalena Bloc of the FARC subdivisions. In 2011 he assumed the leadership of the FARC-EP and continued the dialogue with the government of President Santos – which led to the signature of the Final Agreement for the termination of conflict and construction of peace. After signing the Peace Agreement, he became part of the team overlooking its implementation and verification. In 2017, as the leader of the newly recognised political party FARC (Common Alternative Revolutionary Force) he launched his presidential campaign, which he had to abandon before the elections.
